Movie profile: Akshay Kumar
From Action to Acting
It must have taken a great effort to make the transition from action hero to comedy and romance. For years, he played the action hero to earn money but once he started understanding acting better, he consciously tried to choose roles that would define him as an actor and give him creative satisfaction. However, he will be doing an action movie soon for old times’ sake. There were reports about an alleged fight between Nana Patekar and Akshay during the making of Jaane-e-Mann. Akshay firmly clarifies that it was a rumor and nothing else. He goes on to say that the film has come out very well and he is confident that it will do well. In spite of the fact that Farhan Akhtar’s Don released the same day, October 20. His next two releases will be Bhagam Bhaag and Namaste London. The handsome actor says that many movies these days are made abroad and since he enjoys shooting abroad, he gives the nod to most of them. Doing all those Bollywood dance movements can be embarrassing of course but being the seasoned actor he is, he says he lost all sense of awkwardness years back. Performing regularly before a live audience has also helped him. He had also done an album recently though Akshay says that he is not a professional singer but did the album for a good cause. He sang only one song in the album but it made news.
After work, his life revolves around his actress wife Twinkle Khanna and their son, Arav. Akshay looks every bit the proud father when he recounts how his son always gets good reports at school or how interested Arav is in sports. Becoming a father has calmed him down and given him a sense of balance. It is easy to see that it has. From a man who was unsure about where his life was going to the committed actor and family man that he is today, Akshay has come a long way.
