Film on Laloo Prasad Yadav
Laloo is back in the news, folks and this time it’s neither for
his scandals nor his run-ins with government officials! Mahesh
Manjrekar is planning to make a big budget film based on the life and
times of the RJD (Rashtriya Janata dal) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav.
Believe us! Titled Padamshree Laloo Prasad Yadav, the film had
its mahurat in Patna by the end of December. The budget is said to be
around Rs. 5-6 crores. It will be shot at various locations including
Bihar and Mauritius (Bihar, we understand by pray, why Mauritius?!)
The film is scheduled to be completed by March 2003 and released
across India by May.
Manjrekar and Sunil Shetty will probably play the roles of Yadav and
Laloo respectively, while Divya Mirza(?!) will most likely be the
heroine. It has not yet been decided who will play the character of
Prasad. According to Manjrekar, the film would showcase Yadav’s
style of speaking and personality, while trying to avoid the political
side of his life. The producer Sagoom Wagh along with Manjrekar and
Shyam Rajak (Bihar minister of state for energy and a close Laloo
confident) met Laloo and talked about the film. So far Laloo has
expressed no reservations about the fact that a film is being made
about him.
Meanwhile, Manjrekar, who has directed 11 films, was recently in the
news for the alleged connection with Abu Salem, the underworld don.
However, he is determined to make this film and we are sure all Laloo
fans are waiting for this flick.
