Friendship, Bollywood Style

Abhishek and Goldie (18K)The most famous friendship in Indian mythology is probably that of Duryodhana and Karna - the two defined friendship in ancient times, willing to give their lives for the other. Although there are no parallels in modern times, Abhishek Bachchan's and director Goldie Behl's friendship comes close. Goldie recently declared he is set to make Drona 2 - even before Drona, his current film, has been released and its fate at the box office remains unknown. Is this friendship or what? I'd say friendship. Goldie justifies his making a sequel for Drona saying that his script was so long that one film does not do justify it. Since the ending of Drona leaves a question mark, he will make Drona 2.

He is not waiting for Eros, Rose movies and Abhishek Bachchan to give their consent. While Abhishek will play the lead in the sequel, Goldie hasn't decided who the rest of the cast will be. Has he considered Aishwarya Rai? If she wants to work with him, he is ready to work with her. So, here's a role that Aishwarya can just walk into and claim, if she so decides. Goldie is the son of veteran director producer, the late Ramesh Behl and made his debut as director with Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai which starred (surprise!) Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Sushmita Sen. The Behls and Bachchans are family friends. Ramesh Behl had produced and directed various films with Bachchan Sr., including hits like Kasme Vaade and Pukar.

Goldie considers Abhishek as his younger brother and said he'd love to work with Abhishek in all his movies unless Abhishek has a problem with that. Rose Movies, his production house, is planning to do three movies after Drona, one of which he will direct. Meanwhile, Drona has been delayed due to various reasons although Abhishek and Priyanka Chopra, the film's leading lady, certainly look delicious in all those stills that have been released. Goldie says that since Drona is a supernatural film, most of the effects had to be created through computer and that caused the delay. The story is about Aditya, a descendent of a royal family, who understands the real purpose of his existence and fights with a powerful evil magician. And Jaya Bachchan, Abhi's real-life mother, plays his reel-mother too (Goldie takes his connections with the Bachchan family very seriously - did we already mention that?) After spending Rs. 220 million, Goldie and Abhishek had better give the audience some real special effects. For now, the friends are looking forward to the film's release on October 2.
