Title: Zinda
Music: Vishal shekhar, shibani Kashyap and strings Singers: Shibani kashyap, Strings, Sunjay Dutt Krishna, Vinod Rathod, Kailash kher
Rhythm pep and funk that’s what this album is all about. It’s Sunjay Gupta to a T. The title number by Shibani is sheer heart stopping dance beats.
The next ‘Yeh hai meri kahani’ attributed to ‘Strings’ is ear catching .The bass is effective but the beats follow the funky trail - it’s effective though. The noisy beats with the quiet voice holds your attention.
‘Har saans’ is the next offering sung by Krishna. It’s pure rhythm without music. Maula by Vinod Rathod promises a change even before you’ve heard it. It’s Kailash Kher singing ‘Kya main zinda hoon’? Shibani returns to the title track in a more languid tone and does well.
Side B is more interesting. ‘Bas yehi meri kahani’ follows the traditional ‘geet’ pattern. Here the number is rendered in narrative style…. It’s story being told in plaintive voice. Shibani does her title track a third time.
Sunjay Dutt’s solo number is not the USP this time round but its fun hearing him anyway.
Side B is a repeat of all the numbers on Side A. One wonders how these have been utilised in the film.
The album bears listening as its typical Vishal - Shekhar the young peppy duo of today. They’ve done fair job though it’s limited.
