Devdas is a son of a rich Zamindar. He is a mis-guided child. The world misunderstands him because of his seemingly erratic behavior. The only one who stands by him in his days of school beatings is Parvati (Paro). They laugh and played together, enjoying the company of each other. They share a unique affection which is very deep in nature. However, the attitude of Devdas upsets his father, ZamindarNarayanMukherjee, and he decides to send him away in hopes that he would develop a better attitude. So, young Devdas leaves

Paro is completely excited and gets ready to receive her beloved Devdas. She hopes that educated Devdas will see her in a new light, the light of his one and true love. But Devdas has not changed. He is no more a boy. But Devdas, the matured man, still misunderstands life. Yet Paro still loves him, loves him like anything. Devdas slowly begins to understand this love. Paro comes to know that her family wants her to marry, and her mother knows whom she desires to marry. But the rich Zamindar family firmly rejects the idea of Devdas wedding to Paro. to He leaves her in the dark once again. Paro is compelled to wed someone else but her heart still yearns for Devdas. In Devdas awaits a response, but it is not coming through. Restless Devdas confides in his friend Chunilal (Jackie Shroff) in hopes to acquire some peace, or some sort of happiness. Chunilal takes him to Chandramukhi- a courtesan who is the dream of every man but can be acquired by none. She indulged in wealth, talent, but wanted one thing. A dancer, Chunilal would visit her amongst the many other men for appeasement, for happiness. Devdas initially reluctant at developing a routine of visiting Chandramukhi’sKotha, soon develops drinking habit to get a relief from his pain. He slowly develops into an alcoholic. Alone and drunk, Devdas, visits Chandramukhi but for nothing else than talks, conversations which allow them to understand each other. Devdas slowly starts realizing that he has developed a relationship with Chandramukhi, and that he still has hidden in his heart a relationship with Paro. But he does not know what to do with these relationships. As the relationships develop, Chandramukhi and Paro learn about each other. However, it is the development of Devdas into a man who is aware of himself, his desires, and his needs that forms the rest of this romantic tragedy. Devdas is scheduled for a June 14th release.
