Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai has all the ingredients of a film that kindles fans’ curiosity even before hitting the silver screen. For starters, consider the cast. Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia (wow!). Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are composing the music while the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar. Javed Akhtar’s son Farhan Aktar has directed the film.

Dil Chahta Hai illustrates the story of three friends - Akash (Aamir Khan), Sameer (Saif Ali Khan) and Siddharth (Akshaye Khanna).

Akash is a non-believer. He thinks the concept of love is created to ruin perfectly healthy relationships.

Sameer is a total romantic at heart. He is in love with the idea of falling in love. Unfortunately for him, he hasn't quite grasped the concept of it just yet. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, he is out there searching tirelessly for that 'special someone'.

Siddharth is mature, sensitive and understanding. Siddharth knows the true meaning of the word love. He feels it everyday, every hour, every minute.

The film deals with these three distinct characters, their friendship, relationships and the impact their views have on their friendship.

Dil Chahta Hai is scheduled for release on August 10, 2001.

A brilliant movie in all departments. The actors and actresses have done brilliant work. Akshay, Saif, Preity, Sonali & Dimple have very well done. And what to say about Aamir, just that he is currently the best. Music, Story, Screenplay, choreography, Editing and of course Farhan's direction are a delight to watch. A little minus poiunt of the film is the love story brtween Aamir and Preity which is not well developped. Otherwise, a fantastic movie, a movie of today's generation.
